About Lombok

BEST TIME OF YEAR TO VISIT

May is the perfect time to explore Lombok. It marks the beginning of the dry season, bringing lower humidity and more comfortable temperatures. It’s my favourite month of the year because of the cooler mornings and evenings. The south of Lombok will also be much greener in May compared to later in the season, making it an ideal time to enjoy the island’s stunning natural beauty.

WEATHER

Lombok has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. The dry season (May-October) is sunny and pleasant, while the wet season (November-April) brings occasional rain but keeps the island lush and vibrant. The biggest difference is the high humidity during monsoon season. May is particularly special, as it offers the best of both worlds: sunny days, cooler evenings, and a beautifully green landscape.

Hi, I'm Eva,

I’m a digital nomad who’s been lucky enough to call Southeast Asia home for almost three years now.

But life didn’t always look like this. A few years ago, I was deep into a career in finance. A completely different world far away from my passion that truly lights me up. Leaving that behind to travel full-time and build my own business has been an incredible journey.

I grew up in an eco-conscious household, and for the past 10 years, I’ve been vegan which was the best choice of my life. Environmentalism, animal rights, and travel have always been my biggest passions.

My love story with Indonesia began back in 2017 on a 3-months solo backpacking trip all around the country. After returning in 2024 and spending several months on this wonderful island the idea for this one-of-a-kind group trip was born.

What previous participants say about my drone photography trip to the Azores 2024.

"My favourite thing about the trip was meeting all of you women, which ironically was the biggest thing I feared. Would I get along with all of you? And we got along so well. And I really enjoyed spending time with you. I feel like we've made lifelong friends."

"Taking part in the trip was absolutely one of the best things I've ever done in my life. That's not an understatement."

"For me to be able to combine my love of travelling and discovering more parts of the world with my love for droning and photography, to be able to combine that alongside working with like-minded women who become friends, that's incredibly unique and it's really special."

FAQ

Logistics & Planning

What happens after I book by paying the deposit?

First off I’ll be so excited that you want to join the trip!

I’ll reach out to you via email and ask you to fill in a quick survey so I can gather some information from you such as dietary restrictions etc.

I’ll also provide a calendar link where you select a day and time for us to have a get-to-know-each other call as well as go through any other questions around practicalities you might have.

After the call I’ll prepare invoice(s) including installments for you to pay the remainder of the trip fee.

Can I bring a friend or partner?

Absolutely!

I welcome both singles and couple/friends but it is limited to max 2 “couples” due to the number of rooms we have available.

There is a discounted price if you decide to bring a +1 along given that you are OK with sharing a double bed throughout the trip.

Contact me on IG @evaandtheplanet or email me eva [at] evaandtheplanet.com and I’ll sort out the pricing for you!

How do I get to Lombok?

There are several ways to reach Lombok. The most common international flights that fly into Lombok directly from outside of Indonesia are from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) or Singapore (SIN).

If you're flying into Indonesia through Jakarta (CGK) or Bali (DPS), there are many domestic flights to Lombok available from both cities.

Here are some airlines that fly to Lombok:

  • From Bali (DPS): Wings Air, Citilink, Batik Air

  • From Jakarta (CGK): Garuda Indonesia, Super Air Jet, Lion Air, Batik Air

  • From Kuala Lumpur (KUL): AirAsia, Batik Air, Super Air Jet

  • From Singapore (SIN): Scoot

If you're already in Bali, you also have the option of taking a speedboat or the local ferry (which takes around 6 hours). From the port, it’s about a 1-2 hour taxi ride to Kuta, Lombok.

Do I need a VISA and how do I get it?

Most countries require a VISA to enter Indonesia, but not all. I recommend you double-check this online or with your embassy. The easiest way is to get a 30-day e-visa prior to arrival, which costs $30 USD. You can also get a 30-day visa on arrival at the airport, but this might take much longer to get through immigration, so I highly recommend the e-visa.

I'm happy to support you in the process as much as I can once you have secured your spot. :)

e-visa application

Do I need to bring cash from my home country?

I recommend you bring at least some cash, but generally, it is not necessary. You can easily withdraw money from any of the ATMs in Kuta to get Indonesian Rupiah.

Will I be picked up from the airport?

Yes, airport pickup is included if you arrive on Day 1 of the trip. If you arrive days before or come by ferry from Bali, you need to arrange and pay for your own taxi to Kuta. I'll be happy to assist you with pre-booking a taxi.

How will we get around?

We will have a bus with a designated driver for the first part of the trip until we hop on a boat to Gili Air. On Gili Air, we can simply walk or rent a bicycle to move around the island, which is actually tiny compared to Lombok.

What should I pack and bring?

I will provide a detailed packing list to all participants before the trip and answer any other questions you may have.

Is the trip suitable for beginners or more advanced travelers?

The trip is suitable for all levels. Whether you’ve never been to Southeast Asia or have plenty of travel experience, the activities and pace are designed for everyone to enjoy.

What if I have to leave the trip earlier?

If you need to leave the trip early, I’ll help you make the necessary arrangements on your own expense to leave, though I’d love for you to stay throughout the entire trip.

What do I do if I want to stay longer afterwards?

The trip ends on Gili Air and you are welcome to make your own travel arrangements from there on to either stay on Gili Air or continue your travels elsewhere. I’m happy to share tips and recommendations for destinations around Indonesia and/or South East Asia.

Accommodation & Meals

What type of accommodations will we be staying at?

You’ll stay in beautiful boutique hotels with private rooms for the majority of the trip. For two nights in the north of Lombok, you’ll share a room with another traveler in a wonderful wooden hotel. We will have most of the places for ourselves.

Do I get my own room?

You will be able to have your own room for 5 out of the 7 nights.,

There will be 2 nights at an accommodation where everyone will have to share a room with 1 other person from the group but everyone will have their own bed.

I’ve done my best to carefully find beautiful places that will accommodate us, however it is not easy to find such places which have enough rooms for everyone at every location.

Are meals included, and what dietary options are available?

Yes, all meals are included. Our group meals with the private chef will be plant-based, and if we dine at restaurants, you’ll have the option to choose from a variety of dishes including meat and fish. You’ll have to let me know before arrival on any allergies or specific restrictions.

Are plant-based meals available every day?

Yes, plant-based meals will be available throughout the trip.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

It will be no problem to accommodate dietary restrictions, including allergies, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and other dietary preferences. I’ll be sending out a survey once you’ve booked to gather any restrictions, etc.

Health & Safety

Is Lombok safe?

Yes, Lombok is generally a safe destination for travelers. Kuta is a popular surfer destination as well as for backpackers. The local communities are really friendly and welcoming to tourists. Like with any destination, it’s always a good idea to practice common travel safety tips, such as being mindful of your belongings and staying aware of your surroundings. For this trip, we’ll be traveling together as a group, and all activities and locations have been vetted to ensure your safety.

Are there medical facilities nearby in case of an emergency?

Yes, Lombok has smaller clinics and pharmacies throughout the island and a big international hospital in the capital Mataram.

Do I need any vaccinations to travel to Lombok?

Please check that with a doctor in your home country. Some of the most common vaccinations for South East Asia (which can vary depending on the country), are rabies, hepatitis A+B, typhoid and dengue.

Is travel health insurance required?

Yes, travel health insurance is mandatory and should cover medical emergencies.

How physically demanding are the activities we will be doing?

Most activities involve light to moderate physical effort, such as snorkeling or walking up stairs to the waterfalls. Life vests are available for the snorkeling to make it even easier if needed. Generally, no special fitness level is required to make the experience more enjoyable.
